My heart's all a flutter

There are several things that officially usher in the warm months for me-
Thunderstorms. Budding trees. Whippoorwills. Lightening bugs. And lilac.

Everything is blooming right now. Everything. Last week the world was full of limbs and buds and seemed to hover somewhere between Winter and Spring. Then mother nature turned up the thermostat to 80-90 and everything came alive. Everything.

The lilac is blooming. Last night I ventured out into the pollen storm to visit and I was greeted by the sweet aroma and a delegation of butterflies.

I hope you are surrounded by your favorite things today. What makes your heart flutter?

Lilacs are my A#1 Very Favorite Flower of ALL TIME!!! I tell everyone who will listen that heaven will smell like lilacs!

And the butterfly is gorgeous, but it's a yellow swallowtail. Plant some parsley, dill and/or fennel near your flowers and by late summer you'll have swallowtail caterpilars eating the foliage of them. Parsley, dill and fennel are their favorite foods! And the caterpilars are beautiful, too!

LILACS! I won't be seeing or smelling any of mine until mid-May.

I also like watching birds - everything from hummingbirds to hawks. Just a thing of beauty to behold!

How I long to hear the sweet sound of Whippoorwills again. We haven't had them in our area for many years now. Such a shame because I used to listen to them at night when I was a little girl. I miss that.

It was a hot one here yesterday too, 80+ degrees, but Lilacs are still a few weeks away. Wonderful pictures!

Your photo's were so lovely they moved me to tears! Gorgeous!

Memories of my first love, husband of 43 years and father of my seven children still makes my heart flutter. He will until my dying day and all eternity.

The sound of the voices of my children laughing with each other when we all get together...or when the phone rings and it is one of them.

And photo's of nature is all it's beauty...and I realize what a beautiful world we live in. These are a few things that make my heart flutter. What a sweet question to ask...

Beautiful pics - the lilac is gorgeous and so is the beautiful butterfly. I love your tobacco stick star - I've made several of these myself. But you will always treasure yours 'cause it has "family" value. Have a great Sunday.

That lilac is beautiful and the butterflies always signal the return of warmer weather for me too! Blue skies, salt water breezes, and lightning bugs set my heart a flutter!

Lilacs make my heart flutter. When we came home Sunday, after I unpacked, I ventured out in the yard. I couldn't believe the dogwoods were blooming already! And then, there was my lilac bush still holding on, completely split in half but sporting several dozen blooms. And leaning down, I sniffed one of them and burst out laughing. They just made me that happy.
