Goodnight little farm...

I love the last part of the day, when the sun sneaks below the horizon and the summer heat turns into a soft warm. Often I will wait and head out into the yard between and 8 and 9 o'clock. Last night this amazing sunset was just waiting for an audience.

It's a quiet time. The deer are out eating in the back field and the yard is saturated with the blinking of lightening bugs. The lights on the store and on the backporch emit a warm yellow glow. It's a good time for a big deep breath. It's a time when I fall more deeply in love with our little home, our little piece of the world.

It's my time. It's my Summertime. Do you have a favorite time of day? Does it change with the seasons?

You did get some rain last night, huh? It wimpered out by the time it got down to the coast...as usual.

I have been loving the mornings here lately...cool and not humid, but the evenings are usually my favorite as well.

Those are gorgeous colors in the sky! Your farm looks very enchanting at nightime. My favorite time in the summer are mornings, around 8am, with a cup of coffee out on the porch. It does change with the seasons, in the fall and winter its the afternoons, curled up on the couch reading.

I love those rare mornings when I'm up before St. Michael, I don't have to go anywhere, and I'm not too sleepy to read or write . . . THIS morning was perfection!

(And "cool and not humid"? I need to visit wherever "Living on the Spit" is! I was out at 4:30 this morning, and it was STILL sticky here!)

I do love being out in the summer evenings. Once the sun goes down it's usually pretty tolerable.

As always your photos are beautiful.

Oh how that little gas station and store front reminds me of the movie 'Fried Green Tomatoes'. Will you be serving them at your house?

Each season has its charms, and summertime is the feeling of being carefree and unencumbered, and like you, I feel the sunset in the country is something to be savored and your farm is especially dear and sweet at that time as you've shown us here. I loved your photos, especially of the old store!

Ohhh I love your time of day. But I also really love this time--an early, sunny Saturday morning in Portland. The perfect kick off to the weekend, hope you have a great one too!

Kim, these photos are exceptional! I love the sunset and the one looking up at the house. Gotta love the old gas pump! I'm more of a morning girl. Love to get up and do the pet chores and have my cereal and coffee. Get online, turn on the water fountain for my background noise. Start visiting my blog friends!
