It is important to me to be connected to the past. I love to be surrounded by mementos and reminders of those that are no longer with us. I know they appreciate my sentiment.
A beautiful handmade pillow from my Great Aunt...
Cookbooks and dishes from a beloved, sweet, kind cousin...
After the dishes and books, we discovered these beauties in the buffet.
You see, my cousin wanted us to come over and go through cabinets and such. His wife had quite the collection of things and loved to entertain. I am happy to be able to give these things special places in my home.
Another great treasure comes from my 90-something year old Great Aunt Lit who is still sewing lap quilts- by hand. She sent several home with Mom recently and I was blessed to pick one out. Here is my choice...
I will have more to show you soon. Mom has more stuff to bring over and I will be going through that in the weeks to come. I promise to keep sharing.

I have a tray almost exactly like your black one. It came from my inlaws. There's a picture on my blog here http://songbirdtiff.blogspot.com/2008/06/good-stuff-b-52s.html
The black tray is one of my favorites!
I also love the embroidered pillow. Beautiful colors.
