Did you bring your boots?

Is everyone ready to head out on our little adventure?

Watch out for the old barbed wire fence and there is still a little ice on the ground. We don't have to go too far. Gosh, already we are sort of hidden from the little farm. It's peaceful back here.

Okay- so you might be asking- what are we doing here? Yeah I know, it's a little gray and muddy at the moment. And the trees are a bit gnarly. But just wait until the leaves return. Wait until it is fenced in by green and honeysuckle. Wait until the chorus of tree frogs.

This little spot is nestled between the two pastures on the back of the little farm. It's a little valley. I think it would make a nice little summer oasis- a hiding spot- a playground. You see the water trickling through. It's a bit of run off that meanders through the fields but it's also a natural spring. Water pools there all summer.

Here's my plan or better yet my little daydream so far-
There is a place to cut a perfect little hidden entrance. It's on the back pasture side. There is an old barbed wire fence there now. That's easy enough.

I need to clear away some of the brush here and there. And oh- the thorns I found on Sunday. I always find those...the hard way.

So, now (when) the brush and small bits of trees and bushes are cleared away we have a floor for some old chairs. A floor for old quilts and such.

Up in the garden there are piles upon piles of old rocks. And there are millions more where they came from. Just ask the Fella and his tiller. I think we need a little fire pit.

And whimsy- of course we need whimsy. Old plates and planters and chimes and bits of this and that.

Tell me please, pretty please, what would you do with this special, secret little spot?

Love You Much,
Mom

This reminds me so much of the special little places tucked away here and there on my grandparent's farm. A fire pit sounds perfect and I can see myself swinging in a hammock and taking in the sweet smells of fresh grass and honeysuckle! Perfection!

I'm not sure what I would do with it, but after hearing what you have imagined for it, I'm hooked. It sounds wonderfully peaceful.

I've found my way to your blog via Chronicles of a Country Girl. Great posts!

For me, that spot is what dreams are made of. To lay on ones back and look up through those trees ...yes..the thing dreams are made of!

Hello Bella Della! I found my way to your lovely farm via "Chronicles of a Country Girl". This particular post touches home because my hubby has always wanted a "secret spot" in our backyard (which is way, way, way smaller than what you have going on there!). I showed your post to him and of course he too loved it. His thought was that you must drop a swing from that huge tree cause the lower limbs are perfect!

Nice to meet you, and I'll be back!
:-)

how absolutely wonderful...a place to hide!!! I'm always looking for one of those. A chair, a table and a thermos of coffee for me. Let us know what you add to it.

One of my favorite places is in the wooded area of our property. There is a fallen tree that sets on a knoll.....a perfect place for daydreams to be born!

Thanks for sharing.

I have my boots on and ready to walk thru these woods. I just love it, it reminds me of my Dad's place back behind the creek. We had our Easter picnic back there one year. We loaded up a wagon with a picnic table, all of our food and my Dad pulled the wagon with his tractor. It was quite a memorable experience! Enjoy your day and we'll all come help you clear the brush!

I was out shopping today and thought of you when I saw a pair of polka-dotted boots... but, I'm too skeered of crawly things to go stomping around in a wooded area.

A hammock and a quilt sound delicious for this gem of a spot.

I would want a place to sit in this little spot. Maybe even a hammock. And I like gnarly trees.

That sounds like a great idea! We've got the same type of place only not as easily accessible. It's way up on a hill and we're hoping for it to be a campsite this spring. Hubby has cleared lots of brush away and has created a 4 wheeler path up the hill. It's under lots of cedar trees so it's pretty protected. It should be fun but not as cute as yours. We won't really be able to have any girly whimsy there. It's to far away from the house to really "keep it up" through out the year. It'll be fun to watch your place develope :)

you will need a treasure box to put "things" you find around the "spot". and don't forget a flower press!

Of course a hammock...maybe a tree swing. A fire pit is a must. Chairs and something special for a floor. What a wonderful place. Glad I found your blog.
