Christmas Cows...

Saturday morning...
Me to Fella: I'd hate to see the deer that went with the tracks I saw outside this morning.
Fella: Maybe it was a horse.
Me: Oh wait, it must be a cow- duh.

Later that morning...
Fella: Come quick, there is a cow out in the back pasture.
Me: Exit to grab camera.
Cows: Go behind trees so I can't take pictures.
Mother-in-Law: I thought I heard some mooing last night.

And for some reason we didn't call anyone about the escaped cows. Seemed perfectly normal. Seemed that they might just return on their own. They didn't. More on that later.

Fast forward to Sunday morning...
I go out to walk the dogs and get the paper. I am excited to see that our neighbors have finally put their cows out in the pasture across the road from us. They are my Christmas cows. They join us every year this time. And I am not too proud to tell you that I thoroughly enjoy watching these creatures.

For some reason I don't think anything about the cows that had adopted us yesterday. Nothing. Well, that is until I see our neighbor out on this 4-wheeler. Hmm? Oh yeah, must be the escaped cows that are practically standing in our front yard.

And then we met the entire neighborhood. Seems these cows had made quite a little journey and had no intention of leaving the little farm. Seems our grass was a bit greener. So, they had to herd the cows back into our fields and they were corralled behind our barn. One trailer later and a little hay and they were finally on their way home. It was wonderful to see our neighbors pitching in to help one another out.

I love some excitement out in the country. I love my Christmas cows.

Aw, I love cows. We have several pastures around our neighborhood.

Just remember...watch your step. :)

We once had cows in a pasture directly outside in the front of the house, just across the road. But....they never escaped. Cows just make everything seem so much more peaceful....calm.

Christmas cows:) I think they are precious. I was raised on a farm and we were always having to find some kind of animal that had gotten out. We even had goats:) cows, chickens, donkeys, and lots of others. Something about farms is just perfect! Have a blessed evening!

Loved this story. I could almost feel myself there in all the hubbub.
