Back door guests are best...

We are finally heading inside- through the back door. That means we are on the little back porch, also known as half of my laundry room, as it is where the dryer lives. The washing machine is in the kitchen between the stove and icebox. It's one of those things that officially makes the little farm, well, a little farm.

Come on in...

See, the little barn is nestled in the field behind you? And there is the carporch (which has been rearranged 10 times since these photos). And there is the dryer. And don't you just love the old counter top and cabinet?

I found that basket the other weekend while yardsaling with BellaMomma- $2. It's old and I love it. I use that little teacup when filling up my birdfeeders. The rooster hook was $1 and I didn't even have to paint it.

Here is the bench I found at Goodwill last year. You may have seen it in my kitchen. I think it's about to get painted. I am thinking that fun antique sort of green color.

Those iron fruit things in the background are also from Goodwill. This lady followed me around the store hoping that I would put them back. I didn't. But I can't fault her for hoping- I've been known to stalk too. The pillow is handmade and was .25 at another thrift store.

My polka dot wellies live out here too. They always make me smile. And they make the Fella laugh and shake his head.

The old wooden crate came from GW and is from an old bakery that has been in Richmond forever. It holds old garden and decorating magazines. The handmade birdhouse was $1 and has not found it's forever home yet. The washboard was a gift from my cousin Calvin. I'd never seen one with the curved top before. I am sure you also spy some of what is becoming a vast collection of USA pottery. Those are usually my favorite finds when I am out treasure hunting.

Well, thanks for stopping by today. Come on in. I'll show you around...soon.

Have a wonderful weekend dear friends.

Just super to read your post and see the pictures, I'm so glad I happened on it. I'm hooked on lime green this year so when you mention painting something.....I love the old cabinet and dryer picture too. Have a wonderful weekend, see you often here.

Did you make that lemonade yet? I do not think I have ever really gotten the good tour of the back porch. You have done a great job with it, as well as the rest of your house.

Love this post! Matt and I used to rent an old house that had a back porch like this, where our washer and dryer sat. I loved that house! This makes me miss it.

I love that little bench. Even though it's adorable the way it is, I bet it would be even cuter with a bit of paint.

I instantly was hooked by that rounded wash board. I have a few I've collected, but none that are rounded and unusual like that. You hold onto that, ya hear? I love that red rooster hook thing too.

What a sweet post! Best friends come in through the back door...
or used to. Here in California...if they come through the back door..they have climbed a fence and you should start to worry..especially if he OR she is wearing a stocking cap..or a nylon pulled over their heads.
I love your porch...your bench and the fact that it all looks so HOME!
Lucky you! GREAT post!
So..when do I get to come back and peek inside? :)

Wonderful tour!! I love your place. It is so homey and cozy. Is it cold out there in winter when you dry your clothes? I guess you probably just hurry :)
