A visit from the Avon Lady...

Do you remember those days when Avon put out all those fun bottles filled with lotion and cologne? I know there must be some of you out there that collect those whimsical designs. I have a few around the little farm.

When I was out last week on a treasure hunt I got a visit from the old Avon lady...

A little research reveals that this beauty is from the late 1970's (just like me) and contained a lotion called Golden Harvest. It still has both the original sticker on the bottom and the scent inside. I wonder if the lotion was yellow. What fun that would be!

I don't know about you, but I am in love. Don't you wish they still made things like this?

I, too, am a 70's child. I used to think they were very cheesy. Now, I am very nostalgic about them. I do think they are very cool.

When I was very young my aunt sold Avon so we received Avon perfumes/sachets for Christmas every year.... hated their fragrances, but yes... they made some wonderfully shaped bottles that are now collectibles...

I remember that one!!! Obviously I'm not from the 70s, lol!
In the back of my closet I have a few Avon decanters that were my dads. There's a bowling pin, a car, an owl, an old pipe and all of them contained aftershaves of some sort. These were so great to see on a kitchen or bathroom counter.
Have a great day!

my mom sold avon when my sister and i were young. we used to get so excited when the shipments would come in. we got to help my mom bag them for each customer which meant we got a sneak peek at all the goodies. thanks for making me remember that! we used to love the cucumber face peel. thought it was the coolest thing when it dried on your face and got real tight.

How fun is that? I love knowing the history of little things like that, when they were made ect. It's like antique road show... for Avon. :)

I'm sort of nostalgic about them having grown up with them, but my parents collected them in earnest during the late 70s and early 80s when they were the HOT collectible. Now you'd be lucky to find someone willing to pay a quarter for one of them. I stand to inherit a collection of around 2000 bottles, many with their original boxes.

My mom would get me the cute little pins, and if you lifted up the cows head, or snowman head there would be perfume in it!!

GREAT BOTTLE. FUNNY THING...in the early 90's I was an AVON lady. I always forget about it until I hear the word AVON. I was trying to find a way to earn some $$ at home. I lasted about 3 months.
Have a great day.

Very cool! I have 2 Avon containers...a blue birdhouse that held perfume and a pretty pink flowery talcum powder tin. They are fun to collect!

Have a great evening on the farm!

Avon made some great containers for their products. When I was growing up, I loved it when the Avon lady came to our house. It was always so much fun seeing all her lovely things.

Blessings,

That bottle is too cute. I think I would use it for dishsoap in the kitchen - just a little flair. I'm sure you were right--that loation must have been yellow!

Well, I know they're collectibles now. So pretty. Do you know when I was 20 years old (back in 1977), I was the Avon lady?

Every year for Mother's Day my mom used to ask for Jean Nate (spelling?). Do they even make that stuff anymore?!

I love this one. It brings back memories of my childhood. Mother has one just like it and used to have it by the kitchen sink. I don't think she got rid of it. I may have to go treasure hunting at her house ;)
