Use your imagination...

I had grand plans of taking pictures last night. Guess what? The camera ate the batteries again. I know, I know- I need to invest in the rechargeable kind.

After my frustration with the camera wore off, I was thinking about the things around the little farm that bring me so much joy but I am not adept enough to capture on film or can't exist in a photo. I am forced to use my words today. Hopefully you brought your imagination.

Things like starry skies...I've been blessed to live most of my life out in the country and away from city lights. Last night was so clear and so beautiful I wish that I could share it with you. There were millions of stars winking and sparkling down at me. I can't wait to add the chorus of bugs that Spring will usher in and the flashes of lightening bugs. Perfection.

Like my feathered friends...It's not unusual for my backyard to be filled with blue jays, bluebirds, cardinals, sparrows, and even the old crows. The robins should arrive soon. This morning I heard the woodpecker searching out breakfast. On Sunday I actually caught a glimpse of his red head. No matter how fast I run with the camera they always scatter. Their songs make me so happy. I like to think they like watching my little life as much I enjoy spying theirs. Friendship.

Like the smell of bacon...we had BLT's for dinner last night. Well, there was actually no tomato. The house still smells of bacon this morning. BellaFella always says that is what a real farmhouse should smell like. It always makes me think of big breakfasts back in the old days and meals that I've heard so much about when my folks were pulling tobacco. Comfort.

Like laughter...I spent a wonderful day on Saturday with my family and we laughed. We laughed when we didn't feel like laughing. It's really the soundtrack of our lives together. I could take pictures of smiles but it's the sound that amazes me. Joy.

What a wonderfully spirited post and you said it so well, I didn't even need the pictures! You certainly do have a great way with words and provide such peaceful and melodic tones to your words.

I love it.

Beautifully said. I can see it all in my head just the way you described it. (Although, in my head, all of your family looks just like you!) :)

There's a chance...a big chance... that we'll be moving to the country in May. I am SO excited. I hope it all works out so I can see the stars again :)

Beautiful descriptions. They bring back memories because my grandfather and uncles were tobacco farmers. It's sad because all the old tobacco barns in Tennessee are collapsing from age, weather and lack of use. My grandfather always carried a twist of tobacco in his pocket. There were huge meals prepared on a wood burning stove. And country stores like the one on your property, filled with bread and Moon Pies.

Who needs a camera when you can describe things like that! I saw everything perfectly!

Have a great night!
