Sixteen Candles...

Sixteen candles times two.

That's me. I am 32 and I love every second of it. Yesterday was my birthday, as some of you may have already figured out from my funny little brother, right here, or my sweet friend Marlene, here.

What kind of birthday have I had (so far)?

I've had the only mail in the mailbox yesterday was 4 birthday cards to me kind of birthday. And the only bills were inside those cards if you get my drift- lucky me.

I've had the laugh until you stomach hurts lunch with my girlfriend kind of birthday. Cheeseburgers and lots of dish.

I've had the little kisses at midnight kind of birthday. The fella always watches the clock.

I've had the stories of that day back in 1977 kind of birthday. I always love those. Thanks, Mom.

I've had the Mexican lunch and two Target visits sort of birthday. BellaFella is the best.

I've had the drive me to my two favorite thrift stores sort of birthday. BellaFella deserves a crown.

I've had the Chick-fil-A milkshake kind of birthday. Whip cream and a cherry on top beats candles any day.

I've had the early phone calls from my dad and brother sort of birthday. Those are the best. I am a lucky gal to have such great men in my life.

I've had the forget it's your day sort of birthday. BellaFella and I visited my special cousin in the hospital last night and his laughter was better than any present. Thank you, Andy. And Andy loves a good birthday, especially balloons.

I've had the best sort of birthday. Thank you to my Fella. Thank you to my Family. Thank you to my Friends.

I love you all so much.

The BellaDella Birth Theme Song
*******************************

Here's the story of a very pregnant lady
Who was laying on the sofa and hubby was watching football on the tube.
And the lady had the urge to (more like no choice) to take a tinkle and boy was she scared...when to her horror there was a bit of spotting...no not of an UFO.

Here's the story of man who was my hubby,
remember he is watching FB on TV...I came into the room in a panic and said baby I am spotting...echo...spotting, spotting what?
King Kong on top of the house...just lay down on the sofa and be still and calm and we will keep a close eye on it...touchdown for the Redskins!!!!! HHUUUMMMM....maybe if I bend over in front of him, he will think I am getting ready to hike the ball and take notice and if by some chance this is the moment the baby is to arrive...he will catch "IT" and be so ecstatic thinking he has scored a touchdown...now let's all stand up and cheer.
Mind you that this version is somewhat built up, as I want the ladies to relate to this and bring back memories for them...sorry Son, CoolBreeze and Wade...I know that all men have their own version, but this is my birthing story and lordy you guys "You don't know nothing about birthing no baby".

When the time was to come, I just thought my water would break...that is all I had ever heard. Nobody told me there might be other strange events. As the due date got closer I just spent my time wondering where I would be when the dam broke...grocery store, standing in church singing "we shall gather at the river, the beautiful...beautiful river", or standing in line at the grocery store.

Football game was over and there was not much action going on with me. just wore a path to the bathroom to see if there had been any more spottings to report to hubby...everything cool...went to bed and all night long my back was just killing me. What's up with this? Early morning...dollbaby my back is hurting...maybe you should call the Drs. office. My Auntie worked there and I told her what had been going on and she "said young lady, I think you had better get yourself to the office.

Now here is the part where all of you can relate to or at least a lot of you can right now. This was the coldest day (winter) that we had since...I can't remember right now...how cold was it? So cold that it was the first and only time the garage had the car in there. Hubby was afraid it wouldn't start...He Was Afraid...As I recall I was the one with the fat belly:>). I sure didn't want my first child to be born in a VDOT truck with a snowplow on front, but on second thought, it beats a delivery of your own baby with hubby running around repeating. What do I do??????? Then to have him passed out beside you. That will just mean I will have to smack the baby on the bottom and smack him upside the old noggin...not just to wake him up, but at this moment it just seems that it might be "because I could and I felt like it"

For those of you who know what it is like to travel on narrow country roads with potholes and to hit one only to have the car momentarily disappear, understands when I say it was an interesting ride to the hospital. My dear hubby was trying so hard to miss all the bumps and potholes, but somehow I could have sworn he was hitting everyone of them...laughing on the inside, thinking he was getting even for all those little pesky things, "that of course I am being falsely accused of".

Well we finally arrive to the Drs. office only to find out that I was already dialated to 3-4 and I needed to go immediately over to the hospital. Water and all. By this time I had come to the conclusion that it just might be frozen as everything else was...as my hubby held onto me and glided me on the ice over to the hospital. Thought back then the wheelchair had been invented or at least a couple of them could have locked hands together and let me sit on them and they could carry me over. I heard that..."She's pretty heavy, I don't think we had better try that we might get hurt".

We arrived in labor and delivery only to be told that there was no room in the inn...I would have to be put in a room...hooked up to monitor to monitor contractions and hubby could be on watch and help me out. No problem.
Not yet anyway. Well it soon became apparent that hubby could tell from the machine when a contraction was on its way before I could actually feel it...well after about 3 or 4 times of "another one is coming"...I am like stop telling me...I WOULD RATHER JUST BE SURPRISED.

Then there was the lady in the bed next to me, who had already had her baby (lamaze expert)...hey I am a country gal and thought just the preppy, rich and famous went that way. Well she is laying over there, as hubby is announcing incoming pain and she is saying breath like this $%^&*()#$^. Lady you have had your baby...shut up and I will do my baby my way...shine your gold slippers and comb those golden locks again for the hundreth time...just but out!!!!!!

Well, I finally get to go to the magic room...L&D. Now we are finally getting around to the old water bag...Mrs. Turner we are going to break your water..."See I told you I bet it had frozen". Boy I bet you are all thinking about this time that this baby is in for a rough time...her mommy doesn't know anything. Back then telling you what was going to happen or maybe what it was going to be like was like committing a big sin if you talked about it. After all, just the fact you were pregnant was not talked about and surely everyone was clueless as to how it could have happened. Don't get me wrong...they cared...they cared about the date you had married and if you met the magic 9 mo. mark or if you were shy a month or two. There used to be a lot of premature babies when I was growing up. LOL.

Precious daughter you are safe and legit as you well know. We were just shy of a month of celebrating our 5th year of marriage.

Needless to say...our beautiful daughter arrived safe and sound.

I absolutely enjoyed every minute of being pregnant and I remember everything as if it was yesterday.

Sharing an unknown fact about BellaDella with you. She hates twinkies...blames it on me, as I craved them the whole time I carried her. Heaven only knows how many boxes I consumed. Bless my dear hubby as he made sure I didn't run out.

That's the way we started our Turner Family.
