Only the nose knows...

Update- We met with the ENT on Monday- who was more of an ears guy. Don't get me started. He ended up having to cauterize his nose and so far, so good. However, hubby is terrified of having another bleed and not being able to stop it. Did I mention he passes out quite easily? The ear guy apparently knew enough about noses to identify a very deviated septum which we think is the culprit. This was confirmed by his very, very knowledgeable nurse. Thank god for them.

So, we have an appointment with another guy next week. He specializes in facial surgery and noses and we think we are headed in that direction. Surgery, I mean. I was wondering if any of you have had the operation for a deviated septum? Perhaps your family members? Any information would be appreciated. Obviously I have googled the heck out of it but some friendly advice and real life answers would be much appreciated.

Hope you guys have a great holiday. I have a 22lb bird thawing in a large cooler on my counter as we speak. Mmm.... Maybe the smell of turkey and all the trimmings will be the key for a healthy hubby nose.

I don't know much about deviated septums, but I do know that when you are having nose surgery it is a good idea to talk with your doc about what you want your nose to look like when you are done.
Sometimes the surgery can kind of mess up the shape of your nose. Or, if done right, can improve it.
Good luck.

While I know surgery is probably the last thing you guys were looking to do, I'm glad it's not something super scary. Like a 22 pound Thanksgiving turkey because the thought of cooking that made SSG shudder.

Unfortunetly I dont know about deviated septums but I can relate to him with having it cauterized! I had it done THREE times when I was a kid and from what I remember it was no fun! I literally kicked the DR who was doing it. Since then I have grown out of bloody noses and only will get one every so often!

Im sure there is alot the internet can tell you.

Wishing you all luck!

Sorry. No deviated septum help here. Could you get a picture of the British doc? Thanks! I'm going through some eye-candy withdrawal:)

You were more ambitious than I with the turkey. I bought a fresh bird (because I was too lazy to thaw it out for a week), 14 pounds, WITH a pop-up timer!!!! Hope it works...

Off to clean the garage! Company will be here before we know it!

Happy Thanksgiving:)

That's a tough thing to have to deal with this time of year. Wow, did it start suddenly or was it something progressive? I'm no doctor, but I would try to avoid surgery if at all possible. Make sure you have a humidifier running at night too. The dry, warm air won't help.

Thanks for stopping by my new blog. It will be a test of my wits.

Happiest of Thanksgivings to you both!!! I sure hope Bella Fella will be okay. I broke my nose in a softball game once but never had to have it fixed or anything. I am sure the specialist will hopefully answer all your questions. Keep us posted on the nose!

Love you!!!!

Nose bleeds are so scary! I used to freak out when my sisters had them. I hope the surgery is an easy one.
