The mosaic...

Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting and autumn a mosaic of them all. ~Stanley Horowitz

I took many photos while out on my walk on Sunday afternoon. This photograph is my favorite and I think that quote is the perfect definition of the seasons.

I realize today as we near the one year anniversary of our home sweet home that I have witnessed all the seasons from my little vantage point in the world. I am back to where we started. I know the little nuances, the sounds, and the colors.

The winter etchings of the barren trees in my back field against the sky, the warm spring morning sunrises painted with pastels above the old store, the pops of new color from plants that were never mine as they bloom in the new warm afternoons, the greens and bugs and humidity that color summer so thickly, and the storms that swirl at us from the west, a direction I can only describe as across the road over the neighbor's house... and the hints of all of that, that surround me now.

I feel like I know the little farm so well, after one short year. Just like Fall, my home is the mosaic.

Aaaawwww, this was such a wonderfully wriiten, heartfelt post. It made me fall deeper in love with the farm and the store...

When you build the casa grande' in the back, can I move into the front house?

Hi and thanks for the visit! I will be posting more pictures of my trip to NC soon. I am trying to get caught up here at my house and I also have company so trying to post is hard. I love your property and I am going to go through it some more and look at your older posts, it looks like the perfect dream, an old farmhouse and a general store, can I move in?? LOL.

The post, picture and quote just seem to blend so seamlessly. I think you really captured the "season". While my change of seasons and views are nothing like yours, I think we've our own mosaic as well. Enjoy your day.
P.S. How are you feeling? Did that cold shake itself loose? Hugs.

Isn't it amazing how a home can take on a new personality with the changing seasons?? We are fortunate to live in a state that has all four seasons....even though there's one that I could do without!!!!

I think you could enter that photo in a contest and win some kind of prize...because it's exquisite!

So beautiful.
I think no matter what form it comes in you just can't beat God's artwork.
I have loved watching the colors change.

Experiencing all four seasons in your house is what makes it a home. The seasonal light, smells and activities that really make a home cozy are so important to me. I'm glad you've come to that full circle.
