The General Store, Part I

I am happy to report that I made it out into the old store on Saturday afternoon with camera in hand. The store had become storage and it was driving me nuts. I had grand visions of spending two hours out there and making the whole place over but I quickly remembered that would take an entire team of contractors, builders, and painters. Oh, and one really good cleaning crew. Little old me did manage to move a bunch of my junk to the back room and do a little sweeping and such.

The Before:

The After:
And all the stuff in between that I know you will love:

There are bits and pieces all around the old store that hint of her glory days. Old handwritten signs, bits and pieces of old merchandise, the beautiful worn wood floors, and much more. Notice the old safe above that we don't have the combination for. I don't think anyone does. I would love to know what might be inside there.

To be continued...

Kim, this is so cool. I wish I had been there to help you. I will be okay, and I do not want you to worry. Okay. You can always hire me and I will just move up there!!!

Do you see the color of that tablecoth? And the background color of your blog? I'm green. You know it. You specifically torture me with photos of the store. All the shelves waiting to be filled with crafty goodness and home canned good. The deli case would contain petit fours and such.

Oh be still my heart. I won't be able to sleep tonight because my head will be filled with these images.

Drat!

Oh the possibilities for what you can do with the store! It looks like there are some wonderful treasures there. Maybe a locksmith could open that safe for you.

I SO hope that you are able to preserve the handwritten signs in some way. They are priceless.

Why did you have to go and tell me that you couldn't open the safe?? Now I am just DYING to know what's in there!!!
