Basket Case Bingo

Yes, I said it. Bingo. Basket Bingo. My mom and I suited up and headed to our Community Grange to spend a Saturday afternoon playing bingo- for baskets. See below. I must tell you that I have not played bingo since my elementary school days and I might not play it again until retirement- when I can turn down my hearing aid.

Here were the prizes. That we DID NOT win. What? No, I am not bitter. But can I just tell you that the same women kept winning and winning. There's a name for people like that...lucky.

It was interesting. It was loud. There was a lot of estrogen. However, it was for a good cause and I had fun. And I love a new experience and any excuse to spend time with Mom. She is pictured below in the orange shirt at the second table. You see that blond woman in the pink. She was one of those, um lucky people.

Now, I have to back up a little. I told the bella fella that I was going to play bingo on Saturday and quickly uttered under my breath- for baskets. He hates baskets and plates, but that is another post for another day. He told me that unless I was moonlighting as Little Red Riding Hood or the Easter Bunny that I had more than enough. So, because he thinks he's so funny (and is) he's referred to our outing as basket case bingo all week.

He wasn't too far off. After four hours of B-12s and O-75s and no shouting BINGO- I was a little bit of a basket case.

I have another name for THOSE women. It's probably not appropriate to post it on your site:D

I didn't know you worked on Broad St.! I used to work at the State PTA office off of Broad and Hamilton. I'll be in that area this evening - at one of the museums. My daughter is modeling a dress that one of her friends made. The rehearsal is tonight, and the show is Wednesday:) Fun stuff!

Oh the Grange!!! There aren't any Grange halls left around here. I fondly remember visiting the Grange hall in northern Wisconsin. It always involved lots of really good homecooked food.

I went on a girls' night out once... we went to a bingo game and all of the prizes were from a company that had spongeware pottery for the kitchen and some really neat baskets too. The ladies (including us) were all very competitive, loud, and having a great time.

How fun to go with your mom to the grange hall to play bingo, even if you didn't win any of the baskets. I wish there were more grange halls where such good memories could be created.

Blessings,
Wanita

Well it's a bummer you didn't get a new basket (could you imagine your bella fella's face if you walked in with a new basket? lol!) but it looks like it was a good time!

It looks like fun. I use to work bingo mines for sports when I was a kid.
