My Poore kitchen...

Well, I was putting this post together to show you a little rearranging I did last Friday night in the kitchen. Yes, that IS how I spend most of my Friday nights.

Anyway, upon closer examination of these pictures I've decided that I truly hate that fruit wallpaper border. Hate it. Don't even get me started on the matching curtains. They were here when I arrived too. I think I convinced myself that I liked it because frankly, it is literally stuck up there and I hate painting more than I hate the fruity wallpaper border. I hate the thought of removing the border more than I hate painting.

But I do love my old metal cabinets and the little shelves that frame the window over the sink. You know, that window looks out to the store. I like to think that Mrs. Poore (the former and only other owner) used to stand there washing dishes and watching the customers come and go. You know it was called the old Poore Store, right? That's how it is known in the neighborhood.

I don't think she picked out the wallpaper. I think it was the handy work of some rental tenants that were here after the Poores passed. Her grandson and his wife lived here for a little bit too. You know they live across the road now. The Poore's daughter too. She was born in the backroom of the little store. A lot of answers are only a short walk away and I know you guys are going to tell me I need to start walking.

Then again, if I find out the paper was Mrs. Poore's choice, I might start liking it again. I like to think she's likes what I have done with the place so far.

I really love my Poore kitchen. And maybe, just maybe that border isn't so bad.

Start walking, Kim. We. Need. More. Info. Take a tape recorder with you, because I'm sure you will never be able to remember all of the stories in detail:)

I just love your place...fruit border and all!

Your cabinets are so cool! I have a friend that couldnt get her wallpaper up (it was the first layer and melded to the all board). She painted right over that stuff. But, it would be my luck it would just peel up.

I think your kitchen is very pretty!

I bet that kitchen has some STORIES! Can't wait to hear what you find out ... and I am WITH you on painting. My place still has the "builder beige" and I've lived here almost 4 years!
