Non-Extreme Makeover: Kitchen Edition

I promised more pictures of my kitchen. I've posted about my old country kitchen before. Last week the addition of a new table and chairs precipitated other changes. I found the table with its green and red chairs on Craigslist...$75. I thought it was a steal and it looks perfect- if I do say so myself. We were looking for a larger table as we headed into the holidays and this one is 55 inches with a 12in. insert- that pops up with little effort. Please note that the chairs really are red and not orange. For some reason they photograph that way. Please also note that my cats do not care when I am taking photos for my blog.

The addition of a new table meant that I had to find a new home for a very special table. My old table was built by my great-grandfather and it is very, very special to me. Sure, I have tons of storage...a whole general store but I wanted the table to stay close to me. It is one of my most treasured pieces. So, I moved a few things around and it has a new home against my back wall and of course it's perfect to hold some of my fun treasures.

It definitely wasn't an extreme makeover but it is fun having the new table and moving around a bunch of my knick-knacks. Pretty much everything you see has been found via thrifting or stolen from my mom's house. Many pieces are family pieces.

Note to my little brother: Yes, I know the crock on the table full of old utensils is yours.
Note to mom: Yes, that is the rack that you bought and put out in the store. The one above grandpa's table with the colandar hanging from it. I went "shopping" out there!

Everyone have a great Tuesday. Hope you enjoy my kitchen.

Your kitchen is SO warm and cozy! I want to come over and bring some soup. We'll chat...

You have some of the coolest little kitchen thingies...I've gone back and looked at the details a couple of times, and I keep seeing something different each time. Don't you think that you appreciate your things more when you move them around from time to time? It always makes me feel like I have new stuff!

Yay! Glad you were able to find a new table and a new place for Grandpa's table too. It will be great to have more usable "space" for display and serving when necessary.
I'm just getting out and about, trying to catch up with everyone in blogland. I feel like I was gone forever!
Hugs!
