When one door closes...

Another one ends up on my front porch. In the stuff that my Mom and Dad brought over this weekend was an old screen door (minus the screen) that we believe once graced the front door of my Uncle Wankus' house. Yes, I said Uncle Wankus. Don't laugh. Anyway, it has the best old green paint finish and I just had to display it somewhere. Much to my poor husband's dismay it has ended up on the porch. He doesn't quite understand the whole whimsy thing. I actually have to give credit to Mom for this one (or blame- depending on who you ask). It was her idea to put it here. What do you guys think? I am going to paint the little table in front of it barn red...eventually.

I hope everyone has their door open to a beautiful day!

Sorry. I couldn't focus there for a minute. Hard to get past the whole Wankus thing...

I believe your beautiful door has found a home. It's always amazing to me how creative other people are when it comes to displaying odd items. I'm a bit jealous of that talent.

Oh I love it, especially since it frames some other items. I love "stuff" on my deck and my porch. I have an antique wringer washing maching that I use as a water garden. But since we now have a washing machine on our deck I'd say that we've achieved that status of White Trash.

What a great idea. I love items that go past their normal use and you have done a beautiful job doing that. Really wonderful!!!

I think it looks wonderful there! And it's even better with the family connection. Hey - I understand the unusual names- my great aunt's name is Ottilie. The more unique, the better!
P.S. Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my blog!

I am sorry for laughing; I promise I will stop soon. lol; I love the green screen door. And where you put it, it looks great the painted table sounds like a good match. Can't wait to see photos when it is all put together.

I <3 the screen door! The comment about your husband cracked me up too. It's like those man/woman decorating shows. He says "I like sleek & modern!" And she says "But I like warm and cozy!" The dudes end up loving warm and cozy EVERY time. When will they learn to listen the first time? (And yes, SSG realizes this statement is probably why she's not MARRIED.)

Absolutely LOVE the green door! And I get the whole whimsical vignette thing! LOL! You have a great eye for displaying things!

I laughed out loud at the cow post! I love cows, but are a little leary of them too! LOL!

Ooh I love that door and it looks perfect there! I was trying to get some old screen doors from a church sale a few weeks back and can you believe I was told that they belong to the church and weren't for sale?! :0)
