Meet my home...

One day last fall my husband and I left our little apartment for a Saturday morning drive. And we found this...

We pulled into the driveway and really never left. I met the old house around 9am and a mere twelve hours later I was driving back to my apartment with an offer on a house. It was not an easy journey- anyone and everyone who has become a homeowner knows exactly what I mean. But she is ours now and we love her and are so proud of her. I still have to pinch myself a little when I pull into our driveway each night. It's ours...all ours. Our 6 acres, our house, our barns, our general store, our yard, our trees....all ours. It's the best feeling. It may not seem like much to some folks but it's our whole world. It's the little white farm house that I always wanted and even more. I would also like to formally introduce you to our General Store, circa the 1930s. It is known around here as the Poore Store. We joke we now live in the poor house. The house was in the Poore family its entire life before it became ours. In fact, the store was built first and the family lived there and ran the business. The house was built a few years later.

Picture me under that old tin roof with my face pressed against the windows. They didn't want to show us the store. It was not considered an asset to the property, just an old out-building. I insisted I go inside. It's a real treasure. We hope to put it back together again, return it to it's glory. I will show you inside soon. Show you the good bones she has...and shelves...so many, many shelves...
